Our Civil Engineering and Architecture students have achieved a significant success with their resilient building projects.

The project, which made it to the finals of the Natural Disaster Insurance Pool (TCIP) Earthquake Resistant Building Design Competition organized for the seventh time this year, was designed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sepanta Naimi and Assoc. Assoc. Kenan Şahan, Esra Nur Çağlar, Miray Öztürk, Kübra Öztürk and Ömer Bozdoğan, under the supervision of Assoc.

Providing information about the competition, Head of the Civil Engineering Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sepanta Naimi said that it aims to increase the earthquake awareness and earthquake-resistant building design skills of university students, especially civil engineer candidates.

Reminding that Türkiye is an earthquake zone, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sepanta Naimi said, "We are an earthquake country, but it is possible to build durable buildings if you fulfill the requirements of science. The most important thing is to prevent the natural event from being a disaster with the right designs. We encourage our students to participate in the competition to increase their awareness of earthquakes. In this way, Civil Engineering students can closely see the behavior of the structures they design experimentally."

Naimi reminded that they received the "Rookie of SDC" special award at the Earthquake Resistant Structure Design Competition of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) held in California last year.
