Altınbaş University and Bağcılar Municipality have successfully concluded a meaningful project for children titled 'Mercy Grows in Bağcılar.' As part of the project, training sessions were conducted to teach children how to be more compassionate towards themselves, others, animals, plants, and the environment. Dr. Esra Gül Koçyiğit, a faculty member in the Psychology Department at Altınbaş University, provided the training to 70 students aged between 12-13 over a period of 7 weeks.

The final session of the education program took place at the University's Mahmutbey Campus. Led by Dr. Esra Gül Koçyiğit, the session aimed to instill in children a sense of being university students, foster interest, enthusiasm, and awareness towards academic education.

During the session, children shared their thoughts and feelings about the project, evaluating elements they have shown compassion towards and intend to show compassion in the future. Some of the reflections included statements such as 'I have started to love myself,' 'I have become more helpful,' 'My self-confidence has increased,' 'I have understood the benefit of the word mercy,' 'It added color to my life,' and 'I overcame my fear of dogs, understanding that they are living beings like us, and there is no need to fear them.' All these positive thoughts and emotions belong to the children who participated in the education.

Having completed the 7-week education marathon at the University, the children express their wish for the continuation of such educational programs in the future.
