Radio, Television and Cinema

Message from the Head of Department

The undeniable existence and necessity of art in today's social life is an indisputable fact. Cinema, which is defined as the seventh art, as we know, includes all art forms. In other words, cinema is a combination of arts and cinema education must include forms of education specific to visual, auditory, literary and dramatic art disciplines. This integrated structure makes cinema production both very attractive and very complex. With these characteristics, cinema has the possibilities to be evaluated in many ways as a means of expression, communication, education, training, research and promotion.

Today, the technical courses such as image, sound, script, editing, management and theoretical courses on Cinema History, Film Theory, Turkish Cinema and New Media given in the Department of Radio-TV and Cinema are courses that complement the multifaceted nature of cinema. Thus, students gain both technical and theoretical knowledge.

Radio-TV and Cinema provides one-to-one training based on the master-apprentice relationship with the 'auteur-writer' method, which it accepts as the basic educational principle, allowing each student to develop their individual interests and tendencies. With the principle of teaching in production, each student acquires basic knowledge in the first two years of the education process and develops himself/herself by making films with group work. The agenda of digital cinema and artificial intelligence, which have become more important as the changing world transforms, is also important in terms of the updated curriculum of the Department of Radio-TV and Cinema. Our students take their place in the sector as graduates with both technical mastery and intellectual knowledge of cinema.
