Symposium on Close Relations

There is almost no field, is not affected by digitalization and AI. Romantic relationships are also affected by digitalization. At the Close Relationships Symposium at Altınbaş University, the effects of social media on romantic relationships discuessed.

The Symposium on Close Relationships, organized for the second time this year, discussed interesting topics ranging from the effects of social media on romantic relationships and dating practices to the effects of the frequency of moving on social behavior and romantic relationships. It was pointed out that Social Media has even changed the way of living romantic relationships. 

The opening speech of the symposium held at Altınbaş University Gayrettepe campus was made by Prof. Dr. Tolga Demiryol, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences. Prof. Dr. Demiryol reminded that psychology was one of the first departments to admit students in Altınbaş University, which was established in 2008, in 2011.

Stating that the event was organized by Altınbaş University Psychology and Application Center APAM, Prof. Dr. Demiryol said, “APAM is our first application and research center established within our university. We are a young university, but we have a well-established research center according to its history. APAM is a center that hosts the studies of undergraduate students. The papers prepared here are presented at international conferences. Our students are involved in scientific application studies even before they graduate.” emphasized the importance of the subject.

Noting that the psychology department has achieved significant success with the Technological Applications in Psychology project, which won the first prize at last year's Teknofest, Demiryol said, “We attach great importance to institutionalization. Creating continuity is very valuable. The symposium on close relationships is being held for the second time this year. I hope it will continue for many years.”
