Joint Commission From Five Faculties

Altınbaş University Academic Performance Development Commission continues to work on SCI, SSCI, AHCI, publication, utility model and patent processes, TÜBİTAK projects and appointment promotion criteria. At the last meeting, experience was shared.

The Academic Performance Improvement Committee at Altinbas University continues its efforts, and the 3rd meeting of the committee took place at the Gayrettepe campus. The Academic Performance Improvement Committee, consisting of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, and the Business Faculty at Altinbas University's Gayrettepe campus, shared their experiences during the meeting held on February 15 with the aim of increasing and enhancing publications, patents, and projects in SSCI, SCI, AHCI.

The meeting, where faculty members and academic staff designated by the deans discussed the processes of SCI, SSCI, AHCI publications, utility model and patent processes, TÜBİTAK projects, and promotion criteria, commenced with the opening speech by the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Uçan, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Uçan emphasized the importance of inter-faculty collaboration for the university to achieve higher rankings, pointing out the URAP rankings. He discussed collaborative projects and initiatives, such as the composting project undertaken in collaboration between the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Applied Sciences, which aims to raise environmental awareness among students and contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to Responsible Consumption and Production.

The upcoming collaboration on a TÜBİTAK project focusing on artificial intelligence technologies and patient rights, within the scope of cooperation between the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Applied Sciences, was also highlighted during the meeting.

Prof. Dr. Uçan mentioned the initiation of patent processes for jewelry design, emphasizing the goal of increasing the university's awareness and contributing to internationally recognized patents and works within the Grand Bazaar context. He stressed the need to evaluate disappearing works under the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Aydemir presented the BAP project titled "Ergonomic Mirror" and the resulting utility model "Smart Mirror System and Management," emphasizing the student-centered nature of the project. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meliha Şermin Paksoy discussed her TÜBİTAK 1001 project process and emphasized the need for joint projects among faculties.

Dr. Asst. Prof. Merve Yavuz Düzgün shared insights into the publication process of her 3 SCI articles in 2023, including considerations during writing and methods used in journal research. Dr. Asst. Prof. İncilay Yıldız discussed her published SCI article and the TÜBİTAK 2209A project she received while serving as a research assistant in 2023, emphasizing the necessity of interdisciplinary collaboration in the era of pervasive technology.

Lecturer Nevin Cambaz highlighted the importance of documenting and disseminating ancient techniques such as pen technique, hot enamel technique, and craftsmanship in her discussion of the upcoming panel titled "Ancient Masters Ancient Techniques" in 2024.

During the meeting, Research Asst. Mert Hatipoğlu emphasized the significance of the committee's support for the patent product he plans to apply for in 2024.
