Leukemia, also known as blood cancer, is a type of cancer that occurs with the abnormal proliferation of white blood cells called leukocytes in the bone marrow and lymphatic tissues. It can affect individuals of all ages, including children.

One of the most significant institutions working for the treatment of children with leukemia is LÖSEV. Every year, LÖSEV organizes various campaigns and events to raise awareness about the disease with the support of LÖSEV.

Students from the Department of Operating Room Services at Altinbas University Vocational School also took part in an important donation event. Led by Altinbas University Faculty Member Dr. İpek Ada Alver, who is also a LÖSEV volunteer, students set up a booth on December 18-19-20, selling LSV Shop products and donating the proceeds to LÖSEV.

Emphasizing the importance of donating in a spirit of community awareness and solidarity, İpek Ada Alver stated, “As we do every year, products from the LSV Shop were available for sale at the booth. Students, faculty members, and administrative staff found an opportunity to buy gifts for their loved ones and fulfill their academic needs such as academic planners, wall and desk calendars. The aim of the LÖSEV event is to encourage every individual, regardless of their budget, to donate and support the treatment of more children with leukemia."

Dr. İpek Ada Alver explained that events like these in universities provide information to students about leukemia and LÖSEV. She said, “This way, students can interact more and socialize, while enjoying fun activities with the food prepared by volunteers."

Dr. İpek Ada Alver mentioned that through such events, students develop a sense of collaboration and gain awareness about the importance of donation campaigns. She stated, “They become aware while socializing. This benefits both students and the individuals receiving donations. If we could touch the life of even one child and give them a chance to live, it is a great joy for the donors."

Dr. İpek Ada Alver highlighted that every individual in society can easily become a LÖSEV volunteer and contribute through donation campaigns, just like in this event. She said, “As Altinbas University Vocational School of Health Services, we not only participate in LÖSEV activities but also try to involve our students in various social volunteer projects such as feeding and sheltering stray animals, combating violence against women, and assisting individuals in disaster-stricken areas. We aim to emphasize the importance of collective solidarity and donation."
