Research on Altınbaş University
Altınbaş University, distinguished by its newly supported international research projects, has achieved yet another milestone by becoming the first university among private foundation universities in Turkey to establish a Research Deanship.
Altınbaş University's Research Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Kaygusuz, provided information about the deanship and explained its functioning.
Dean Kaygusuz emphasized that there are examples of such deanships abroad and that it is an important academic-administrative unit that ensures the efficient execution of university research and development activities. He stated, "For the first time in our country, a structure established in a state university in 2021 has been seen as an example in other universities in a short time. Altınbaş University became the first foundation university to establish this unit, demonstrating its importance given to research."
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Kaygusuz, highlighting Altınbaş University's significant achievements in education and internationalization in a short period, stated, "The increase in the number of accredited programs, rankings achieved in national and international competitions are good evidence of this. In addition, our university is progressing in research and development with the scientific articles published by our researchers, the projects they have undertaken, and the registered patents. To effectively monitor this progress and coordinate all research centers, the Research Deanship unit has been established in our university. Our Board of Trustees and Rectorate, in harmony with their vision, brought this successful practice from abroad and in Turkey to our university as an example."
Dr. Kaygusuz said that among the activities of the deanship are incentives for publications and projects given to academics. He also stated, "In addition to these, activities include training on writing articles, preparing projects, patent and utility model registration processes resulting from invention disclosures, scientific data analysis, and coordination of research and development processes with other institutions."
Drawing attention to the Altınbaş University Technology Development Zone, which was recently granted permission in the Official Gazette, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Kaygusuz said, "With the Technology Development Zone, this unit aims to work in effective communication, conducting university-industry collaboration successfully. When the Technology Development Zone is established, our Research Deanship, in coordination with it, will conduct activities needed by industry and the sector."
