As of December, inter-university sports competitions have begun. Our Altınbaş University football and futsal teams are competing in the Istanbul 1st League for the first time this year.
In a challenging league compared to the 2nd League we participated in before, we are facing tough opponents, and our first goal is to qualify for the finals.
In football, which has attracted great interest from international students, under the leadership of team captains Mustafa Furkan Reis, Mehmet Can Şener, and Smart Chimaobi Onwuaju, and in futsal under the leadership of team captains Mehmet Can Şener and Atılay Ege Koyun, we continue to compete effectively with a sense of fair play.
In the futsal match against Rumeli University, despite initially falling behind 2-0, our team equalized the match with goals from Burak Cumur and Bilal Durdu, ending the match in a 2-2 draw. As a result of the draw, our team gained an advantage by winning the penalty shoot-out 3-2, which will determine the teams advancing from the group stage.
In futsal, our team was awarded a 5-0 victory by default in the second match against Bezmialem Vakıf University due to their failure to show up. With us leading the group, our final match is against Bilgi University. If we also win the match planned for the second semester, we will be in the quarter-finals.
As for football, our opponents are Istanbul Rumeli, Topkapı, Fenerbahçe, Kadir Has, and Istanbul Medeniyet Universities.
In our first match in the Football 1st League against Kadir Has University, although we ended the first half with a lead of 1-0 thanks to Emirhan Şerifoğulları's goal, we ultimately lost the game 2-1. We are pinning our hopes on the next match, which will be determined shortly.
