Project “Determining the Role of Mitochondrial Transfer in Imatinib Resistance in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia” Awarded TÜBİTAK Support

Dr. Yalda Hekmatshoar, a teaching member of our university's Faculty of Medicine, has been awarded TÜBİTAK 1002-A project support.

The role of mitochondria in the resistance mechanisms developing against the tyrosine kinase inhibitor called imatinib, used in the treatment of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), will be investigated within the scope of the project.

The project, which aims to shed light on the development of new approaches in the treatment of CML, is the first study to investigate the direct role of mitochondria in imatinib resistance.

Researchers from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Ankara University Faculty of Pharmacy, and İstinye University Faculty of Medicine will also take part in the project, which will effectively utilize our university's central and research laboratory infrastructure.

We congratulate Dr. Yalda and wish her continued success.
