TÜBİTAK Project Support for Our University

Our project titled “Determining the Role of Mitochondrial Transfer in Imatinib Resistance Developing in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia” received support from TÜBİTAK.

Our university's Faculty of Medicine faculty member, Assistant Professor Yalda Hekmatshoar, has been awarded funding for her TÜBİTAK 1002-A project.

The project, titled “Determining the Role of Mitochondrial Transfer in Imatinib Resistance in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia,” will investigate the role of mitochondria in the mechanisms of resistance to imatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used in the treatment of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML).

Aiming to shed light on the development of new approaches in CML treatment, the project is the first study to investigate the direct role of mitochondria in imatinib resistance.

The project will make effective use of our university's central and research laboratory infrastructure, and researchers from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Ankara University Faculty of Pharmacy, and Istinye University Faculty of Medicine will also participate.

We congratulate Professor Yalda and wish her continued success.
