Additional Placement: A New Opportunity in Higher Education
The additional placement process for university applicants has begun. Ertuğrul Tut, Director of Education, Promotion, and Guidance Services at our university, shared his thoughts on the matter.
Following the announcement of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) results and the completion of registrations, the ÖSYM's supplementary placement process has begun for candidates who were not placed in any program.
Ertuğrul Tut, Director of Education, Promotion, and Guidance Services at our university, emphasized that supplementary placement offers an important opportunity for candidates and shared important information about the process.
What is Supplementary Placement?
Supplementary placement is the process whereby candidates who were not placed in any program can apply for the remaining vacancies after the initial placement process following the YKS. These vacancies, announced by ÖSYM, offer candidates another chance to become university students.
What Should Be Considered During the Process?
Ertuğrul Tut listed the points that candidates should pay attention to when making their choices as follows:
● Candidates must thoroughly review the preference guide.
● The minimum score required for departments should be lower than the candidate's score. This condition does not apply to departments without a minimum score requirement.
● The same conditions apply to departments with a cutoff score in the additional placement process.
● Candidates have 24 preference rights. Therefore, it is important that they do not include programs they do not want in their preference list.
● Candidates who have been placed in a program based on special talent can also benefit from the additional placement opportunity.
Last Chance and Scholarship Opportunities
Additional placement offers candidates a last chance to become university students. Foundation universities expand their scholarship opportunities during this period, allowing students to benefit from advantageous conditions.
Ertuğrul Tut advised candidates to visit universities in person or obtain information through communication channels during this process, emphasizing the importance of one-on-one meetings for making the right choice.
