Prof. Dr. Eray Güçlüer, “Not only FETÖ, but also imperialist powers were behind July 15th”

Altınbaş University Sociology Department Faculty Member Dr. Eray Güçlüer evaluated the coup attempt from an academic perspective on the anniversary of July 15.

Altınbaş University faculty member Dr. Eray Güçlüer, in his assessment within the scope of July 15th Democracy and National Unity Day, emphasized that FETÖ was not only a coup attempt, but also the product of a multinational strategic plan aiming to divide and dismember Türkiye. Güçlüer stated that not only FETÖ but also imperialist powers and their intelligence-supported organizations were behind July 15.

Stating that the origins of the strategy behind July 15 date back to the 1960s, Prof. Dr. Güçlüer said that Türkiye was made open to foreign interventions, especially since the Adnan Menderes era. Stating that FETÖ was an “internally recruited” tool of this plan, Güçlüer said, “This structure, which was organized by infiltrating the most critical points of the state step by step, grew like a virus supported by foreign intelligence and became a threat.”

“This was more than a coup, it was a project to erase Türkiye from the stage of history”

On the night of July 15th, Güçlüer described the resistance of the nation under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as a victory not only against the coup plotters but also against all imperialist powers and said, "This struggle is not over yet. We have to continue our struggle with determination."

New generation threat: Intelligence-based organizations

Stressing that FETÖ is a much more dangerous organization than conventional terrorist organizations, Güçlüer said:

"FETÖ is a highly specialized intelligence organization that uses technology effectively. It must be eliminated not only through armed struggle but also through intelligence-based strategies."

A warning to young generations: FETO more dangerous than PKK and DAESH

Stating that Türkiye has been forced to host three major terrorist organizations such as PKK, DAESH and FETO in the geography in which it is located, Güçlüer said, "Young people should get to know these structures, especially how FETO exploits religious and national values."

Emphasizing national unity and consciousness

Finally, reminding that imperialist structures have never given up on Sevres, Güçlüer emphasized that it is vital to remain strong and vigilant as a nation. "We owe mercy to those who were martyred on July 15 and gratitude to our veterans. We must walk the path they paved with determination."
