İstanbul Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (İRAP) commission convened
The İstanbul Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (IRAP) commission, including Prof. Dr. Sepanta Naimi, Faculty Member of Altınbaş University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, came together recently.
At the District Risk Follow-up Monitoring and Evaluation Commission meeting held in Bağcılar, the activities carried out to reduce disaster risks were evaluated. In the meeting held with the participation of Bağcılar District Governorship, municipality, police, education and infrastructure institutions, completed and ongoing projects were discussed.
In the meeting where it was stated that demolition and retrofitting of old buildings in the district against earthquake risk continued rapidly, it was also mentioned that 24,185 people were given disaster awareness training in 2024 and new gathering areas were created throughout the district.
In addition, it was discussed that it is aimed to prevent possible floods with the arrangements and infrastructure works carried out in the river beds against flood risk.
The meeting also discussed the strengthening of local search and rescue teams, updating emergency plans in public buildings and implementing rainwater collection projects for water saving and environmental sustainability.
It was emphasized that the risks in the district should be monitored regularly and awareness raising activities against disasters should continue.
