It's the last corner of YKS preparation!
Altınbaş University Education, Promotion and Guidance Services Manager Ertuğrul Tut gave advice to students preparing for YKS. Here are the things to consider 100 days before the exam...
There are now less than 100 days left for the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS), for which university candidates are preparing with great devotion and excitement. The anxiety level of students increases inversely proportional to this time. However, it is in the hands of the candidates to make the most efficient use of the remaining time. Ertuğrul Tut, Director of Education, Promotion and Guidance Services at Altınbaş University, explained what should be considered to maximize efficiency in this process:
“Hold a mirror to yourself!”
“Which subjects do you lack? In which subjects are you strong? Candidates should reveal their own analysis. The best way to analyze the situation and identify the missing subjects is to solve mock exams and analyze the missing subjects. Although this is the first step of the process, it is not enough on its own. The next step will be to prepare a study plan by focusing on the subjects they are missing. The study plan should be completely suitable for the candidate and his/her study style. Making a plan that they cannot implement will cause a loss of motivation. For this reason, it is very important that the planning and the program are compatible.”
The importance of planning
“Candidates should create a weekly program and determine which subjects they will study each day. They should try to overcome their subject deficiencies quickly in this way. It is of great importance that they try to keep their daily study time as long as possible and pay attention to using time efficiently. For example, they can study TYT in the morning and AYT in the afternoon. What is important here is that they use their time efficiently and use their study performance with maximum efficiency.”
“They should focus on question solution”
When we consider that there are less than 100 days left for YKS, it is very important to gain question practice, for this reason, it will be a more functional study process to eliminate subject deficiencies by solving intensive questions from different sources to see different question types. In other words, they should keep the lectures short and determine the deficiencies by solving more questions. Candidates should focus on completing their deficiencies instead of studying subjects for a long time.”
Trial exams are a good opportunity
Ertuğrul Tut, who emphasized the importance of trial exams with a little time left before YKS, said, “I recommend that they start solving at least 3 TYT and 2 AYT trials a week and increase the number as the process progresses. In the last 1 month, they should try to test every day, analyze the mistakes by analyzing after the test and close the deficiencies.”
Pay attention to time management!
Emphasizing that the general problem of students in TYT is not the difficulty of the questions, Tut continued his words as follows:
“For this reason, they can spend the process more efficiently by practicing paragraphs, problems and questions that require speed in order to use the time efficiently. In AYT, they need to do attention studies, especially to minimize processing errors and to ensure that formulas are settled in practice. It is very important for candidates to establish their sleep patterns during this period because sleep patterns will affect their motivation to study. It is important to remember that sleep patterns have a great impact on mental health. Keeping motivation high will positively affect mental health. In this context, candidates can set small rewards for themselves. Finally, if they make good use of the last 100 days, they can make great progress. I think they will prepare for the remaining exam process in the most efficient way by paying attention to time planning and keeping motivation high”.
