There has been a great transformation in digital dentistry in recent years. Altınbaş University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Prosthodontics, Lecturer Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Elif Ezgi OĞUZ drew attention to the role of CAD/CAM technology in prosthodontics and emphasized the advantages of this system for dentists and patients.

Fast, Precise and Patient-Friendly Solutions

CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing) technology not only shortens the treatment time in dentistry, but also enables the production of customized restorations with high precision. Stating that it is possible to produce and finish prostheses in a single session with CAD/CAM systems compared to traditional methods, Dr. Oğuz said, “Our patients can now have quality and aesthetic restorations on the same day without having to wait for days.”

Aesthetics and Durability Together

CAD/CAM systems work with different materials such as porcelain, zirconia and composites, responding to both aesthetic and functional needs of patients in the best way. Dr. Oğuz stated that long-lasting prostheses are produced thanks to the processing of high-strength materials such as zirconia with the CAD/CAM system.

Less Error, More Comfort

This technology offers a much more comfortable experience for patients compared to traditional impression-taking processes. Thanks to digital scanners, precise measurements are taken while manual errors are minimized. “In addition to patient comfort, it is a great advantage for physicians to have a system that reduces the margin of error,” Dr. Oğuz added.

Stepping into the Digital Future

Emphasizing that digitalization is an inevitable reality in dentistry, Dr. Oğuz stated that CAD/CAM technology is being used in more and more clinics. “These systems not only speed up treatment processes, but also increase patient satisfaction and open a new era in modern dentistry,” he said.
