Audiometry

Yağmur Yıldırım

Graduates of the audiometry programme, an emerging field in healthcare industry, can work as health-care professional technicians called an audiometrist or an audiometric officer. With the growing number of audiometrists, it is expected that these professional technicians are more and more employed especially at nose-ear-throat services. An audiometrist runs audiometric tests on patients after medical examination as instructed by the physician. These tests are performed to help diagnose ear diseases and determine a method for their treatment.  An audiometrist also measures hearing, provides the doctor with the results, and implements hearing aids to patients if required.

The objective of Altınbaş University Vocational School of Health Services Audiometry Programme is to train professional healthcare technicians equipped with all the required knowledge and skills, as well as all scientific methods related the diagnosis of hearing loss and balance disorders, and capable of running hearing tests. Our campus is located in Istanbul's Bakırköy, a district surrounded by hearing centres. We offer laboratory classes where students can perform objective and subjective hearing tests, hearing & balance tests, learn how to choose a hearing aid for patients, and how to make earmolds and hearing aid adjustments. Students may attend clinical applications at public hospitals as part of the clinical audiometry classes we offer. Our cooperation with Hearing Aid Sales and Application Centres and Joint Health and Safety Units (OSGB) enables students to carry out summer internships or work shadowing.

As Altınbaş University Vocational School of Health Services, we would be delighted to welcome candidates who have a good understanding of the definition of a modern healthcare technician, eager to acquire knowledge and skills to make them capable of practicing their jobs in the best way possible, and to work for the common benefit and welfare of the society.
