The joint protocol for the "Dual Degree Turkish-German Law Undergraduate Program" signed between Altınbaş University and the University of Cologne on April 12, 2012 was approved by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) in Türkiye in 2012. It was accredited by the Accreditation Agency in Germany in 2013.

The first group of students, named after Altınbaş University Founding Foundation "Mehmet Altınbaş", were placed in the program in the 2013 - 2014 academic year and started their education at the University of Cologne.

The other three universities where the University of Cologne conducts the Dual Degree Bachelor of Laws Program are Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, University College London and Universita degli Studi di Firenze (University of Florence).

Purpose of the Program

This program, which is the first and only Dual Degree Law Undergraduate Program between Türkiye and Germany, will enable our graduates to respond quickly to the needs of the global world with the strength and synergy that the Turkish and German legal systems will draw from each other. In this context, considering Türkiye's European Union process, this program will not only strengthen the historical Turkish-German legal relations, but will also fulfill the function of realizing an international vision.

Joint academic studies will create a highly effective bridge between Turkish and German legal systems and prepare a solution-oriented ground for the next generations.

In this program, it is aimed to provide students with different thinking, creativity, questioning and research skills as well as the legal background of both countries. The program will nourish the socio-cultural richness of both countries and the traditions of the two universities, and will train lawyers with the notion of universal law and the ability and knowledge to work in the international arena.

One of the main objectives of the program is to integrate Turkish and German legal education. In this context, students will gain scientific foundations, methodical skills and international professional language skills to comprehend the legal systems of both countries.

Structure of the Program

Students who will be accepted to the program from both countries will receive a Bachelor of Laws from both countries. Students will complete the first two years of their education at the University of Cologne and the last two years at Altınbaş University.
