Pride and Prejudice

The theater play "Pride and Prejudice", based on Jane Austen's novel, starring Beyza Taşdemir, a student of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, took place on December 5, 2023 at the Gayrettepe Campus Conference Hall.

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Prof. Dr. Nurcan Perdahçı said, "It is proud to watch the efforts of our students on stage. I hope the play will be very successful and will be performed again and again."

The novel, which reveals the courage and satirical talent of Jane Austen, from which the play is adapted, tells the class differences in the 19th century and the patriarchal perspective in which women are imprisoned through the life of a family.

Pride and Prejudice is a valuable criticism against women's right to have a say in marriage and inheritance. The concept of "sisterhood" and the solidarity between sisters in the novel is one of the reasons why Jane Austen is one of the important feminist women writers of English Literature.

We congratulate Beyza Taşdemir, a 1st year student of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, who benefited from the Inspire Future special talented full scholarship program offered by Altınbaş University.
